Book
Bronisław Zelek. In the letter wonderland
The book about Bronisław Zelek was born out of a love for letters — and the thrill I felt when I saw his "Birds" movie poster for the first time. It quickly turned out that Zelek was more than just posters: typefaces used by designers around the world since the 70s, paintings, and even more.
A designer who built his own airbrush, was sent to Cuba by the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in the 60s, created the most famous Polish typeface of the pre-digital era, and whose poster for "Birds" ended up in MoMA — his story is as extraordinary as his work.
As part of my research I visited his studio in Austria and travelled tracing his typefaces. I worked on this book for almost three years. In March 2023 it was funded through a Kickstarter campaign, highlighted by them as a "Project we Love". A must-have for every design and typography fan.

"I have been followed by letters for my entire life, accidentally. I just don't know why." — Bronisław Zelek
